Who am I?

Alex Newport

I am a Sydney based filmmaker. Unique, compelling content is what drives me in my work. I'm determined to take risks in order to create high quality productions. 

One of my long term goals is to improve and expand Australia's film industry. I feel that there is an enormous amount of talent in this country that isn't being fully utilised. To achieve this, I'd like to make original stories that are able to connect with an international audience. As excited as I am for the talent here, I also aspire to work overseas to work on projects that reflect different cultures. 

I'm confident in many aspects of film making; story-boarding, making shot lists, lighting, sound, camera work, producing and editing. However, my  main game is screenwriting. It's because of this passion for writing that I always prioritise the narrative in every part of my work, instead of making something for the sake of spectacle. I always focus on the story being told, however small or simple that story may be.
